Kelly Nowlin, a fifth generation Andrus family member, is an expert in family-led foundations. She serves on the board of the Surdna Foundation and was a founding member of the Andrus Family Philanthropy Program. Kelly is also a board member of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) and the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP), and was recently named to the NCFP’s 2020 Class of Fellows for Racial Equity.
In her work, Kelly guides family foundations on developing their governance policies, mission and strategic vision, in addition to approaches for engaging the next generation. Both new and established foundations benefit from her perspective on how to define and sharpen their core identity and methodology in service of deep social impact. She is a sought-after speaker on a range of topics in philanthropy, including next generation engagement, social justice, racial equity, power and privilege, and impact and evaluation. She also serves on the Boston Arts Advisory Board to support the expansion and sustainability of innovative arts curriculums and programs in the Boston Public Schools.
Kelly has lent valuable assistance to Shared Cause projects in local economic development, schools serving inner city youth, and a developing public health partnership.
Earlier in her career, Kelly was a media and communications professional, with expertise in social media and brand development.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Boston College and resides with her family in Hopkinton, MA.
